Chances are you know who I am if you're visiting this site. And if you don't know who I am, you've probably be brought here due to a common interest. Thanks for visiting!

For the past fifteen or so years I have had some sort of presence on the web. Back in the early 90's, when I was a student at Lakehead University, I made the jump from FTP and mail (pine, if I recall) to the world wide web. Almost as soon as I began surfing the web I had a webpage, “Shroom's Room” hosted on the university's servers. I kept up with some sort of webpage, eventually aquiring this domain in 2002, which I used as an online portfolio. A year or so later, I transitioned my website into a blog format and that's what it's been like up until very recently.

Lately I've been longing to expand my site beyond the blog format. The blog is great for daily journaling and keeping in contact with folks, but I have other areas of interest that I'd like to put more effort into online (like my Unfriendly Giant cartoons and geocaching.) One option would be to continue using WordPress (a fantastic platform.) Instead though, I've decided to try out a more robust website management system (MODx) that has a great templating and structure coding system.

So, I'm just starting out. I'll be building slowly. But I'm looking forward to expanding my expression on the web. Keep coming back and check my blog, I'll continue to post regularily-ish there.
