Dealing with Disappointment

shroomAzoom

Over the past couple years, I’ve had my fair share of employment disappointment. So, I’ve tried quite hard not to get excited about any new job possibilities. Even after being offered my new job (in Thunder Bay, in case you haven’t been paying attention) I tried not to get too excited about it, just in case it somehow got taken away from me.

I’ve caught myself thinking over the past couple weeks, “What if they change their mind? I’ve already rented a truck to move, given notice on my apartment, canceled my utilities and Jenn has quit her job. Man, we’d be so screwed.” Yeah, I know, harsh.

Even though I’ve had a signed agreement of employment in my possession since last week today, I got a communication that makes me feel more sure about the whole thing. Today I was told where to report to on my first day of work (the ATAC at LU) and I was requested to bring a voided cheque with me so they can set me up with payroll. I want to be certain that everything (or at least this) will work out and those kinds of things reassure me.
