“Oh my goodness, Becky…”

Kent just sent this along my way. It is absolutely hillarious! Thank a lot! I’ve got to watch it for a third time now.

PS: I promise, my blog will not turn into a collection of links.

An Odd, Disturbing Story

I’ve been following this story all day. It probably won’t get much media attention. But, you might find it interesting if you’re a serious student, an English or World Religions professor, a plagiarist or an anti-plagiarist. I think a bunch of my readers will find this facinating yet disturbing (but in a moral, not-going-to-contaminate-your-mind kind of way.) Like a car wreck.

It starts with this post, keeps going, and going.

Update Wed 3:56pm: There’s still more to read.

Never Put Off Until Tomorrow…

So, the rule is “Never put off until tomorrow, what you can do today.” My question is, does the rule apply to going to bed? And what are the philosophical ramifications? I’ll leave that for you to ponder at your leisure.

In other news, I finally got Jenn her birthday gift from 2002. It’s a long story—and one that I won’t get into here—but she’s now got her very own bike. As an added bonus, her sister is going to throw in one of those big, old lady, bike seats. She doesn’t want it and Jenn wants one. Everybody’s happy. Never put off until 2005 what you can do in 2002.

Marple

This spring, CBC has been showing the new Marple murders and Jenn and I have been really enjoying watching them. We just watched (after taping it on Sunday night) A Murder is Announced. It’s fun to see these great mysteries and the British actors playing in them. Tonight’s murder featured Madam Hooch and Tom Riddle from the first two Harry Potter Movies.

This winter we also enjoyed watching the new Inspector Poirot played by the fellow who was the mayor in Chocolat. I guess I should pick up a few Agatha Christie novels for my bookshelf next time I see some in a second hand shop.

I’m A City Girl?!

Whether you live in the city or not, you’ve got the heart of a city girl. You’re up on the latest trends—what’s hot in music, food, and fashion. And you love to be on the go. Your perfect day is filled with tons of fun. Your perfect guy is a city guy, so head to LA, NYC, Sydney, or London to find him!

What? I didn’t know that I was so shallow. Thanks, Richard, for suggesting this on your blog. At first I was expecting your latest post to be about your birthday. Maybe the next one. This post is a poor excuse for not being stale.

Spring Has Sprung

I wonder how many blog posts there have been in the last couple days with this same title? Well, I’ve been enjoying breaking up the pack-ice on my driveway the past few days and crunching down what’s left of the snowbank in front of the house. Yes, the OCD is still in charge.

Today, I drove home from my afternoon meeting with the moon roof wide open, my jacket off and the Steve Taylor blaring. It’s spring indeed and I’m sure I’ll be out on my bike before the weekend is over. Yippee!

New Migrane Symptoms

Yesterday I had my worst migrane since moving to Ottawa. In fact, it may have been the only time I’ve hurled due to a migrane since moving here. I was thinking that maybe I was getting over them as for the past little while, they weren’t so bad that I couldn’t get some sleep. They also weren’t lasting much longer than three hours. Yesterday’s lasted for almost six hours and ended in a good puke. New symptoms included pins and needles in my hands and a numb tongue. Jenn thinks it was all triggered by a grapefruit—I think it might have been something from lunch at Cora’s on Saturday: stawberry jam or something in the sausage or ham.

Total Eclipse of Friday Night

Well, I don’t have anything better to post than this link that Robin sent to me tonight. See if you can recognize Kent Hall and watch out for the guy’s bum.

Your Civic (and Rock and Roll) Duty

It’s your civic duty to vote for your favourite Canadian songs on CBC’s 50 Tracks. Here’s the deal. You can vote every day from March 16th to March 21st. There is a list the list of fifty songs and you get to check ten of them. So, you’ve got a potential of sixty points to distribute across the list, weighing your vote on the songs you think deserve to be at the top.

In other 50 Tracks news, I heard—for the first time—yesterday, Buffy Sainte-Marie’s Universal Soldier. It was remarkable enough for me to start blogging about it today. I can’t say I like Buffy’s voice, nor the style of the song, but she brings up a thought that really hadn’t crossed my mind before. Individual responsibility of soldiers in war. Okay, maybe I have thought about this issue before, but Buffy brought it to a point for me.

Now, I’ll be the first to agree that there are “just” and “un-just” wars. I don’t know how many just wars there have been in the past century or two, I’m not a history major. I also think there’s a big difference in defending yourself in war and defending an ideal by going to war. Is there too much war? Yeah. Am I talking about G.W.? Definately not exclusively. Am I advocating giving Universal Soldier a listen? For certain. And for my part, I’m even going to spend one of my sixty votes on it.

That’s Incredible

Yesterday I got The Incredibles on DVD—it was the first day out and it was on cheaper. Anyway, Jenn and I were watching through some of the bonus stuff and it happened again… It seems like every time we get a Pixar movie and I see all the behind the scenes stuff I ask myself, “Why aren’t I working there?” Of course the answer is probably something like: You’ve got the attention span of a Sesame Street watcher and can’t keep yourself interested in your creative projects long enough to finish them. So, your work isn’t up to their standards.

And that’s true. My stuff is no where near Pixar standards. See for yourself. Never the less, even the bonus material from The Incredibles DVD had me laughing out loud. It’s good stuff. That Bounding short wasn’t the best, but Jack Jack Attack (and especially Carie) was great.
