Hogwarts and Sensibility
Feb 12th
Funny, I was in the mood to watch a Jane Austen movie this afternoon and Sense and Sensibility was on TV. Last time I watched it, I noticed that Professors Snape and Trelawny along with Madam Pompfrey were in it. This time Jenn pointed out Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge and I suspected (and confirmed) the original Portrait of the Fat Lady.
I’m glad that Snape gets the girl in the end though I would have prefered he get Trelawny over her younger sister. Have I written this blog entry before?
I Get Up
Feb 11th
So, I’ve just noticed this odd habit I have of spontainiously getting up. I sat down at my computer at the beginning of the day, read my favourite blogs and went to start writting mine for the day. I was halfway through the first sentence and I got up and walked out of the office into the living room. As I got there, I realized that I had no idea why I went there. Then I realized that I’ve been doing this for quite some time. I just get up and go — with no reason. So, I poured myself some juice and put some toast in for breakfast, but I know that wasn’t my plan.
Just as I started to write this entry about getting up, I got up again, but this time I noticed it and caught myself. But as I was in the process of realizing what I was doing, I developed a plan. I saw a shirt of Jenn’s on the spare bed, so I picked it up and took it to the bedroom then returned. Any idea of what this might be all about?
Worth the Wait?
Feb 10th
I know a lot of you have probably been checking my blog daily — waiting for my next post. (I wish!) Well, I bet you weren’t waiting for this post…
Warning: Sickning Sap
I’ve got a new cartoon idea and it’s all thanks to a cute name Jenn called me yesterday. Without getting into it, she called me “Baby Bum.” I naturally assumed (and to be sure, I asked for clarification on this) that she meant “bum” as in “hobo.” And what better cartoon idea could there be but… Hobo Babies!
Hobo Babies, We make our dreams come true.
Hobo Babies, We’ll do the same for you…
What do I Know?
Feb 4th
Nothing apparently. I’ve been following 50 Tracks (the Canadian list) on CBC radio for the past couple of weeks and enjoyed the show in the summer too. I took the 1970′s quiz today (after I cast my vote for The Diodes, Waking Up Tired.)
So, how did I score? Rotton! Or is it “Rottonly?” Anyway, I only got one right (the Beatles/Klaatu question.) It happened to be for the band that I sent in a write in vote for. Can’t wait for next week though, just to see if my picks make it to the list. By the way, to my American readers, I don’t know if your citizenship will be revoked if you decided to participate, but it might be worth it.
Groundhogs for Me, Groundhogs for You
Feb 2nd
Happy Groundhog Day and congratulations on making it through January! Many folks claim that people have a rough time during this second phase of winter (the let-down phase after Christmas) because there are no holidays for two and a half months. Now, I like Easter as much if not more than the next person, but let’s not forget all the holidays between. The following is a non-exhaustive list of neglected holidays…
- Robbie Burn’s Day: Haggis, poetry and bagpipes, can you think of a better recipie for fun?
- Chinese New Year: Year of the Rooster — bah, give me the Rat.
- Valentine’s Day: Not that I need it anymore.
- St. Patrick’s Day: Like Robbie Burn’s day, but for the Irish (and not for the snakes.)
- Wacking day: A sham, originally conceived in 1922 as an excuse to beat up on the Irish.
- Lent: The anti-holiday.
So, as you can see, there are plenty of good reasons to celebrate, not the least of which is Groundhog Day. Oh, and apparently Wireton Willy did not see his shadow this morning so winter will be over in six weeks.
Welcome to Panther
Feb 1st
Today, I got the latest Mac OS going, Panther. It’s got some cool new features, but the main reason I got it is so that I can run OpenOffice. My work uses it and they want me to use it too. In order to use it, I needed Panther, so they bought it for me. Pretty good deal, I guess.
Anyways, I’ve been so busy with work and stuff, I haven’t been blogging. I don’t really even think about blogging, so that’s why my posts (as of late) have been pretty lame. Though, they’re still better than TL’s. Hee hee.
